AS-Interface: Control, Signaling, and Sensors with Integrated Communication

Direct Connection to the Network without Additional I/O Modules

AS-Interface offers a complete range of field devices that have a built-in ASi interface (chip). This allows them to be connected directly to the two-core ASi cable using piercing technology, eliminating the need for intermediate I/O modules and simplifying wiring.

Sensors with Direct ASi Interface

Sensors optimized for AS-Interface provide not only binary signal transmission but also extended monitoring and parameterization functions:

• ASi Inductive Sensors: Available in various housing styles for direct connection to the ASi network. They include an integrated ASi chip, allowing for self-monitoring and parameterization (e.g., changing NO/NC state) directly via the bus.

• Integration: All ASi sensors and modules, such as G10 ultra-compact modules, are compatible with 2-, 3-, and 4-wire (PNP) sensors and offer a high degree of protection, often IP68/IP69K.

• Specialized Sensors: Through modules, complex sensors can be connected, including those operating in hazardous (Ex) areas.

Push Buttons, Control Stations, and Indicators (Indication / Operation)

Control and signaling components with a direct ASi interface greatly simplify installation at workstations and on production lines:

• Push Button Modules: Illuminated push buttons and modules allow for remote control and display of conditions within the AS-Interface network. They are powered directly by the ASi cable, and current switching states are shown via integrated LED indicators.

• Stack Lights: Modular AS-Interface stack lights allow for assembling a signaling unit tailored to exact requirements. Available elements include steady or flashing light elements, as well as audible alarms (buzzers/sirens) with acknowledgment function. Modules connect with a simple bayonet lock.

• Buzzer Elements: Supplementary audible devices (sirens, buzzers) are often used alongside stack lights, some offering feedback (acknowledgment) capability via ASi.
