Diffuse Mode Sensors: Simple and Reliable Object Detection.
Diffuse Mode Sensors from Pepperl+Fuchs are among the most common and simplest photoelectric sensors to use. They are ideal for reliable object detection in close proximity, especially where it is impossible or impractical to install a separate reflector or receiver.
Operating Principle and Design
-
Single Component: The sensor features a compact housing that contains both the emitter and the receiver.
-
Detection: The sensor emits light (laser or LED) which reaches the object. The passing object scatters (reflects) part of this light back to the sensor's receiver.
-
Switching: If the intensity of the reflected light exceeds a set threshold, the sensor is triggered, signaling the object's presence.
Key Advantages
-
Simple Installation: Only one device and one connection are required, significantly simplifying installation and saving time.
-
Versatility: Effectively detects most objects, regardless of their shape, as it operates by sensing scattered light.
-
Cost-Effective: No need for additional accessories such as reflectors.
