Primary Protection Methods in Enclosures (Ex d, Ex e, Ex p)

The choice of protection method depends on the zone classification and the type of equipment housed inside.

• Increased Safety (Ex e): This method prevents explosions by ensuring components do not generate sparks and do not heat up. Enclosures have high IP ratings and special terminal connections.

• Flameproof Enclosures (Ex d): The enclosure is designed to withstand an internal explosion without transmitting it to the outside explosive atmosphere.

• Pressurized Enclosures (Ex p): Positive pressure is maintained inside the enclosure using an inert gas or clean air, preventing the external explosive atmosphere from entering.
