Inductive sensors for valve position detection

Inductive Sensors for Valve Position Detection

Non-Contact, Reliable, and Wear-Free Monitoring of Quarter-Turn Valve Position

Pepperl+Fuchs inductive sensors, specifically developed for valve position detection, are the ideal solution for process automation. They provide wear-free, non-contact feedback on the status (open/closed) of on/off valves and regulating components. These sensors are indispensable in harsh and aggressive environments where reliability is mission-critical.

Key Benefits and Series

The core functionality involves Dual Sensors, which combine two independent inductive sensing elements in a single housing, allowing for reliable monitoring of both end positions (0° and 90°) with one device. Devices are designed for Direct Mounting on standard pneumatic or manual actuators in accordance with the VDI/VDE 3845 standard. They exhibit Extreme Robustness, including protection up to IP69K, a wide temperature range (down to –40 °C), and resistance to UV radiation.

The main series for valve position sensing include:

  • F25/F25K Series: Features a compact design with a dual sensor. Available in NAMUR and DC 2/3-wire versions, ideal for smaller pneumatic actuators and indoor or basic outdoor systems.

  • F31/F31K Series: Characterized by a robust design and direct mounting, offering high impact resistance for general industrial applications.

  • F31K2 Series: Considered the most rugged and flexible solution. It features double mechanical protection, and the translucent housing includes a highly visible position indicator (Beacon). This series is essential for harsh outdoor conditions, hazardous (Ex) areas, the chemical industry, and the marine sector.
