Microwave Level Switch (Barrier) ProGap 2.0

The ProGap 2.0 is a compact, non-contact microwave level switch/barrier from ENVEA designed for reliable fill-level detection of bulk solids, liquids, slurries and interfaces in silos, hoppers, pipes and conveyors. It operates completely unaffected by dust, buildup, foam, steam or condensation and offers a measuring range up to 100 m. Versions are available for all hazardous areas (ATEX, IECEx, FM).

Operating Principle

The transmitter emits a low-power microwave signal (2.45 GHz) towards the receiver. When material enters the beam path (or when moving material creates a Doppler shift), the signal is either blocked or the frequency changes. The receiver detects this change and switches the output (relay or 4–20 mA). Static deposits on the antennas have no influence on the measurement.
