Variable Area Flowmeters
KROHNE Variable Area Flowmeters (Rotameters)
KROHNE variable area flowmeters are simple, cost-effective, and reliable instruments for measuring the flow of liquids and gases without external power supply. Available in glass versions for low flows and metal versions for industrial processes (up to DN150 / 6"). Optionally equipped with limit switches, 4…20 mA analog output, HART®, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus-PA.
Operating Principle
The flow lifts a float inside a conical tube. The float height is proportional to the flow rate and is read from a scale (locally) or transmitted electronically. Equilibrium is achieved between the flow force, float weight, and pressure drop.
Description by Series
H250
Modular metal rotameters for liquids/gases with vertical/horizontal mounting capability. Mechanical indicator or electronic (4…20 mA/HART®7, FF, Profibus-PA). Versions M40 (up to 1000 bar, +400°C) and M8. Connections: flanged DN15–150, threaded, hygienic.
VA40
Glass rotameters for basic applications. With MIN/MAX limit switches and optional 4…20 mA. Low pressure drop for gases. Connections DN15–50, -20…+100°C, up to 10 bar.
VA45
Glass rotameters specifically for low-pressure gases (up to 1 bar). Easy reading, for gas supply lines in furnaces and protective systems. Connections DN15–40, hose.
DK37
Metal for low flows in harsh conditions. Mechanical or with 4…20 mA/HART®. Stainless steel/alloys, thread G¼/NPT¼, -40…+150°C, up to 220 bar.
DK32/34
Compact metal for low flows with needle valve, MIN/MAX contacts, and optional 4…20 mA/HART®. Stainless steel, -40…+200°C, up to 220 bar.
DK46/47/48/800
Glass for very low flows (from 0.04 l/h) and sampling control. With valve and contacts. Thread G/NPT, -5…+100°C, up to 10 bar.
DK700
Miniature glass (6 cm length) for low flows (from 2.5 l/h). With valve, thread G⅛, up to 4 bar.
GA24
Glass rotameters in robust steel housing with MIN/MAX contacts. Flanged connection DN15–50, PN40/ASME Cl300, -20…+100°C.
