Vögtlin Thermal Mass Flow Meters

Vögtlin thermal mass flow meters and controllers (red-y smart and red-y compact series) are digital instruments based on MEMS technology for precise measurement and control of gas mass flow without influence from pressure or temperature. They directly measure gas mass, offer high accuracy (up to ±0.3% FS + ±0.5% of reading), wide turndown ratio (up to 1:100), and support for many gases (including mixtures). Available as stationary (smart) and portable battery-powered (compact) versions with digital interfaces and get red-y software for management.

Operating Principle

The instruments use a thermal principle with CMOS sensor (MEMS technology): a portion of the gas flow passes through a thin capillary with a heater and two temperature sensors. The temperature difference is proportional to the mass flow (number of gas molecules). The sensor provides fast ADC conversion directly on the chip, with built-in temperature and pressure compensation. This makes the measurement independent of P and T fluctuations within the specified range.

Ideal for mobile measurement and testing.
