OPTISOUND ultrasonic level transmitters
The OPTISOUND 3000 series consists of ultrasonic level transmitters for non-contact continuous measurement of liquids and bulk solids in storage tanks, process vessels, open channels, silos, stockpiles, and conveyor belts. The instruments differ in measuring range, transducer type, and process connections. Output: 2-wire or 4-wire 4…20 mA / HART.
Operating principle
The transducer emits short ultrasonic pulses (35–70 kHz) towards the product surface. The same transducer receives the echo. The transit time of the pulse is proportional to the distance to the surface, and thus to the level. An integrated temperature sensor automatically compensates for the influence of air temperature on sound velocity. Commissioning is performed by entering tank geometry only — no filling required.
