Solid Material Velocity Meter SpeedFlow 2.0
Solid Material Velocity Meter SpeedFlow 2.0
Description SpeedFlow 2.0 is a microwave/electrodynamic sensor for continuous, real-time measurement of the conveying velocity of bulk solids (granules, powders, dust) in metallic pipelines, with a measuring range of 0.75–35 m/s. It is designed for dilute-phase pneumatic conveying or free-fall applications after mechanical feeders. The sensor is installed via a welded stub or flanged connection without intruding into the material flow and is compatible with pipe diameters DN 80–350 mm (others on request). No ATEX certification is required for standard applications. It supports pressures up to 1 bar (100 mbar) and temperatures up to +80 °C (optional +120 °C). Accuracy ±1 % in the calibrated range. Outputs: 4–20 mA, Modbus RTU, pulse, relay; compact design (rod version weight 1.5 kg).
Operating Principle
Measurement is based on the electrodynamic principle: as particles pass and impact the sensor, a charge (induction voltage) is generated and transmitted to the correlator. The correlator calculates the transit time between two electrodes separated by a fixed distance, thereby determining the exact velocity. In the pipe version, the electrodes do not contact the material directly, ensuring completely contact-free operation. The system filters signals for high accuracy, independent of material type.
Main Application Areas
-
Pneumatic conveying: monitoring velocity of fuel dust (coal, biomass) in injection lines for precise distribution and prevention of imbalances.
-
Free-fall: measuring velocity of dosed additives (e.g., limestone) after belt weighers for quality control.
-
Industries: power generation (coal-fired plants), cement, chemicals, food & feed, minerals, wood processing, waste incineration, foundries.
Advantages of SpeedFlow 2.0
-
Complete independence: measurement is fully independent of material type (dust/granules), flow direction or inhomogeneity; works with any pipe diameter.
-
Easy installation: simple retrofit via welded stub or flange with no flow interruption; up to 300 m distance to electronics; on-site calibration using software.
-
Accuracy & reliability: ±1 % accuracy, low power consumption (20 W); withstands +80 °C (optional +120 °C) and 1 bar pressure; contact-free version eliminates wear.
-
Technical benefits: real-time interfaces (Modbus, Profibus); compact design (320 mm length); service life >10 years; cost-effective installation and maintenance, multilingual menu.
