Solid Flow Meters MaxxFlow HTC

Solid Flow Meters MaxxFlow HTC

General Description MaxxFlow HTC is a contact-free electromagnetic flow meter for continuous, high-accuracy measurement of dry bulk solids (dust, powders, granules up to 30 mm particle size) at process temperatures up to +120 °C. The system consists of a wear-resistant ceramic (Al₂O₃) inner pipe flanged directly into the process line (DN 80–200 mm) and the MSE 300 evaluation electronics. It handles unlimited flow rates (up to 300 t/h with no upper limit), process pressure up to 1 bar, and achieves accuracy of ±1–3 % (<2 % with EasyFlow calibration). Outputs: 4–20 mA, Modbus RTU, Profibus; protection class IP65; completely maintenance-free and dust-tight.

Operating Principle

After a mechanical conveyor (screw, chain conveyor or rotary feeder), the bulk material falls or slides through the sensor from a constant height, reaching a stable acceleration and velocity. A high-frequency (88 kHz) homogeneous electromagnetic field is generated inside the ceramic pipe. Passing particles absorb energy proportional to their concentration (K, kg/m³) with ±0.04 % precision. Velocity (v, m/s) is measured by the transit time between two electrodes positioned behind the ceramic liner. The mass flow rate is calculated as Q (kg/s) = K × v × A (cross-sectional area m²). The measurement is fully contact-free, independent of flow direction, angle of repose or velocity profile (vertical or inclined installation), with a turndown ratio of 1:5.

Main Application Areas

  • Measurement downstream of mechanical conveyors (screw/chain conveyors, rotary valves) in free-fall or inclined pipes for dosing control and flow balancing.

  • Industries: cement (raw meal), chemicals (salt, starch), power generation (coal, limestone), food (grain, wood pellets), minerals (gypsum, sand), metallurgy (coal).

  • Typical uses: continuous mixing, silo/truck loading, high-temperature processes up to 120 °C where impact-plate or other mechanical systems are unsuitable.

Advantages of MaxxFlow HTC

  • Contact-free & maintenance-free: No moving parts, ceramic liner highly resistant to abrasion and erosion, dust-tight design, no material build-up; zero servicing required (service life >10 years).

  • Flexibility: Independent of flow velocity, density, direction and installation angle; easy retrofit into round pipes without flow restriction; compact height (220–310 mm), electronics up to 300 m away.

  • Accuracy & reliability: ±1–3 % system accuracy (±0.04 % concentration), EasyFull/EasyFlow calibration option for <2 %; unlimited maximum flow, turndown 1:5; withstands +120 °C and 1 bar process pressure.

  • Technical benefits: Stainless steel construction with ceramic lining; real-time interfaces (Modbus, Profibus); low power consumption (20 W); ATEX compatible; cost-effective installation due to small footprint and simple flanged integration.
