Volume flow measurement AirFlow P

AirFlow P is a volume flow measurement system designed for reliable operation in difficult or high dust load conditions. It consists of a process adapter, sensor rods, and the MSE 300 controller. The system measures air velocity and calculates volume flow (in operating cubic meters per hour) directly in the duct. It is available in a standard version (up to +150°C) and a high-temperature version (up to +800°C). Sensor rods are easily interchangeable, and averaging of up to three measuring points is possible on one controller. No Venturi or duct modifications are required.

Principle of Operation AirFlow P operates on the electrodynamic measuring principle. Two sensor antennas protrude into the duct and use the existing dust particles in the gas stream to accurately measure flow velocity (1–100 m/s). If the duct cross-sectional area is entered into the controller, the system outputs the volume flow (velocity × area) via analogue output. It works reliably even with very low dust loads (from a few mg/m³) and does not require calibration.

Fields of Application

  • Industrial processes with high dust loading (dust-laden gases).

  • Cement, chemistry, energy, and other heavy industries.

  • Any duct diameter or geometry where differential pressure methods (e.g., Venturi) cannot be used due to excessive dust or installation restrictions.

  • High-temperature applications (up to 800°C in HT version).

  • Can also be used as a pure velocity meter to maintain constant material velocity.

Advantages for the User

  • Reliable and accurate measurements even in heavily dusty environments.

  • Easy retrofit on existing ducts — no Venturi, constriction, or duct modifications needed.

  • No calibration required.

  • Works with all duct diameters and geometries.

  • Output directly in operating cubic meters per hour.

  • Suitable for very high process temperatures (up to 800°C).

  • Simple installation and maintenance thanks to interchangeable sensor rods.

  • Possibility to average up to three measuring points for large ducts.

  • High stability and independence from duct geometry.

AirFlow P is an ideal solution where traditional flow measurement methods fail due to high dust content or structural limitations of the ductwork.
