 We are pleased to announce the release of new inverter options from the Inverter family.

Introduction – New EFR Accessories Series

Mitsubishi Electric Europe is introducing a new series of inverter accessories under the EFR designation, covering AC reactors, dv/dt reactors, and sine wave filters.

The EFR series is based on a new manufacturing partner and has been optimised from the outset for cost-efficient production and an improved supply chain.

This optimisation allows Mitsubishi Electric Europe to significantly improve the overall price competitiveness of inverter-based drive systems, particularly in applications where accessories represent an important part of the total system cost.

At the same time, the new EFR portfolio maintains the required technical performance, robustness, and application coverage expected for industrial drive systems, while enabling a more competitive and scalable offering for the European market.

Availability & Migration – Key Information

 

  • From 1 February, all EFR accessories are available in the system and orderable
  • Between 1 February and 1 April, the European central warehouse will gradually migrate stock from the previous accessory series to the new EFR series. During this transition period, availability of individual items may vary.
  • From 1 April, the EFR series will be the standard stock portfolio for inverter accessories.
  • Lead times for individual items are visible directly in the ordering system.

 

  1. Purpose of This Product Introduction

This document introduces the new EFR series of accessories for frequency inverters, including AC reactors, dv/dt reactors, and sine wave filters. It provides technical background, application guidance, and selection logic to support correct application of these accessories in inverter-based drive systems.

 

 

 

 

  1. Why Output and Input Accessories Matter in Modern Drive Systems

Modern frequency inverters generate a number of electrical phenomena as a result of PWM switching and semiconductor technology, including:

  • High current harmonics on the supply side (THDi),
  • High voltage rise rates (dv/dt) at the motor terminals,
  • Voltage reflections and overvoltages on long motor cables,
  • Common-mode voltages affecting bearings and EMC behaviour.

 

If these effects are not properly mitigated, they may lead to:

  • Increased stress on the inverter rectifier,
  • Reduced inverter lifetime,
  • Premature ageing or failure of motor insulation,
  • Bearing damage,
  • EMC issues,
  • Severe limitations on motor cable length.

 

The EFR accessory portfolio is intended for customers who value a complete drive system solution from a single manufacturer, combining inverter and accessories into a coherent, technically validated system with simplified sourcing and logistics.

 

3. Portfolio Overview – EFR Accessories Lineup

The new EFR accessory portfolio consists of:

•EFR-HAL – AC reactors (input chokes),

•EFR-DU – dv/dt reactors (output reactors),

•EFR-SI – sine wave filters.

The portfolio addresses typical input-side and output-side challenges of inverter-fed motor systems and supports customers who prefer system completeness from one supplier.
