What makes Mitsubishi VFD special? (Part 3)
Mitsubishi Electric Tests the Limits of Reliability: VFD Verification Before Launch
From high temperatures to vibration and electromagnetic interference, Mitsubishi Electric conducts comprehensive testing to verify VFD reliability before products reach the market.
Quality does not end with manufacturing. At Nagoya Works, finished VFD units undergo a comprehensive verification process designed to evaluate their performance under demanding conditions.
Temperature, load and long-term operation
Before launching VFD units, Mitsubishi Electric performs a range of tests, including:
• high-temperature testing;
• component temperature testing under full load;
• long-term reliability testing at elevated ambient temperatures.
These tests help verify how the equipment performs under load and during extended operation.
EMC testing
Electromagnetic compatibility is another important part of the verification process.
Nagoya Works operates one of the largest indoor EMC testing facilities in Japan. The facility is certified by TÜV Rheinland, and each VFD series is tested for EMC before launch.
HALT: testing beyond normal conditions
Mitsubishi Electric also uses HALT — Highly Accelerated Life Test — to identify potential weaknesses in product design and manufacturing processes.
The HALT equipment enables testing across a temperature range from −100°C to +200°C, with temperature changes of up to 60°C/min and random vibration of up to 60 Grms.
Reliability built into every stage
The journey of a Mitsubishi Electric VFD — from concept to finished product — includes design, component-level inspection, manufacturing, and comprehensive testing.
This systematic approach to quality supports the stable and reliable performance of Mitsubishi Electric products.
This is the philosophy behind Nagoya Works: quality is not simply checked at the end — it is built into every stage of the process.
