Fire GO mobile aircraft fire simulator based on MELSEC System-Q and GOT2000
The German company Fire GO GmbH, together with its engineering partner Siebers Mechanical Engineering, has built a mobile, full-scale A320/B737 aircraft fire simulator. The system is controlled by a MELSEC System-Q industrial PLC and GOT2000 operator panels. Instructors can adjust flame intensity, wind direction, and scenarios in real time. The GENESIS platform records reaction times and fire-extinguishing efficiency. According to a Mitsubishi case study, simulator training improves decision-making skills by approximately 22%.This is a non-standard application of an industrial PLC and GOT: not for a conveyor belt or a machine tool, but for training firefighters to handle rare yet critical airport emergencies.
• The MELSEC System-Q controls all simulator functions: scenarios, gas supply, safety systems, and fire behavior.
• The GOT2000 serves as the instructor's station. From this panel, the instructor can intensify the flames, alter the "wind," or switch scenarios mid-session.
• records the training progress, including the crew's reactions, timing, and the effectiveness of specific techniques.
Not every airport has a stationary, full-scale aircraft simulator. This mobile unit enables on-site training for various incidents: cockpit fires, engine failures, landing gear issues, cabin fires, and fuel spills. Firefighters practice hazardous maneuvers in a controlled environment, and data from GENESIS facilitates the review of errors after the shift.
