Orbinox: HidroCFD R&D update and slurry / mining valve solutions

In March 2026 Orbinox received HAZITEK 2025 support for the HidroCFD R&D project. For Ukrainian plants this is a signal that the manufacturer is investing in hydraulic works while already offering a working range of knife-gate and pinch valves for abrasive slurries, tailings and mineral processing.

On 23 March 2026 Orbinox announced HAZITEK 2025 support for the HidroCFD R&D project, co-financed by the Basque Government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund 2021–2027 (ERDF/FEDER). The company has not published a full technical description of the model on its news page; this article records only the confirmed funding fact. A year earlier Orbinox received HAZITEK 2024 for the BULKHAND project — the R&D line is continuous, not a one-off announcement.

The practical offer for mining, ore concentration, tailings and slurry lines is the product range already on the market. Model EP (SER.75) is a bi-directional lug-type knife gate valve with a polyurethane-lined ductile-iron body. It is intended for abrasive fluids and suspended solids in mining, pulp & paper, power, chemical and food plants. Manufacturer data: full bore, 10 bar working pressure, EN 1092 PN10 / ASME B16.5 Class 150 connections, DN50–DN600 (larger on request). Actuation: handwheel and pneumatic cylinder.

For heavy corrosive-abrasive slurries Orbinox offers PA pinch valves: full-bore enclosed heavy-duty design, elastomer sleeve as the only part in contact with the media. Sizes DN25–DN300, pressure up to 10 bar. Actuators: handwheel, gearbox, pneumatic cylinder; electric and hydraulic on request. Applications: mining, water treatment, FGD, pulp & paper, chemicals, power plants, cement and ceramics. Operating benefit: almost no mechanics in the flow path and sleeve replacement instead of a major body overhaul.

The mining portfolio also includes slurry knife gates VG, WG and HG — from medium-duty wafer valves to wide-body and high-pressure designs with rubber sleeves for tailings and concentrate pipelines. For Ukrainian sites (concentrators, tailings, pulp mills, cement, hydraulic works) selection follows media, pressure, flow direction and actuator type.
