USE OF REFLEX LEVEL GAUGES IN SUGAR PRODUCTION INDUCTRY

Use of Reflex Level Gauges Manufactured by TECFLUID on the Multiple-Effect Evaporator Stations for Sugar Production.

Measurement of juice level plays an important role in systems of automated control of multiple-effect evaporator stations. Traditionally, the level in the evaporator station bodies is measured by the displacer level gauges, the measurement data of which depend on the accuracy of the task, density and temperature of the product, which is especially noticeable in the start-up modes. An alternative solution is the use of reflex level gauges.

In order to find a reliable level gauge, Technical Department of the Teofipol Sugar Plant carried out pilot tests of the LTDR level gauge manufactured by TECFLUID

(Spain), without subcontracting. This level gauge can be equipped with different probes: rod probe, coaxial probe and rope probe. The instrument can be used for a wide range of levels up to 20,000 mm with the absolute accuracy of ±3 mm, and it is sufficient for the evaporator station for sugar production. The probes are made of stainless steel 1.4404/316l. The electric wiring diagram consists of 4 wires. Power supply voltage is 12.30 V DC. Output signal of the level gauge is 4-20 mA.

There is an additional output for preprogrammed level value signaling.

CSC-AUTOMATION has provided LTDR reflex level gauge with 4 mm flexible rope probe 4000 mm long, for the pilot tests. The tests were carried out from 2012.10.15 to 2012.12.21, as part of the system of automatic control of multiple-effect evaporator station. The instrument was mounted on the third body.

In the process of LTDR level gauge operation, it has been detected that such medium characteristics as juice density and temperature, as well as pressure in the evaporator station body, do not influence instrument indicators. It was also noted that the instrument configurations are flexible, convenient and user-friendly. The tested reflex level gauge showed its excellent work, good sensitivity and accuracy, quick respond to the change of the level value in the station body. There were no negative reviews and comments, for the whole time of use of LTDR reflex level gauge. Based on the results of the previous use, the LTDR reflex level gauge obtained excellent appraisal from the C&I workers, who serviced the instrument. It was recommended to be set on the multiple-effect evaporator stations of sugar plants.
